Afternoon visitor
The spot breasted orioles are back… they are here all year, but had not been by the house in a few weeks. The two fledglings are not coming around now, not sure if they have found their own territory or not. The mockingbirds that have taken up residence are scaring off most of the birds right now, and I suspect they may have frightened off the babies.

Who's Looking At You?
The pair of screech owls that have visited nightly since mid-summer are still stopping by. Last night they serenaded me while I was out on the porch working.
I put the hummingbird feeder out the other day – I anticipate the return of our ruby throated pair any day now based on past years. When we were in Virginia, we were so enthralled by the number of hummers we had each summer. We are happy to just have the two every winter.

I'm Not Pretty Yet!
